The Founding of Brickenpaw

The beginning of an enterprise and the creative journey.

The title “Brickenpaw’ has been on the forefront of my creative projects as far back as high school when I was a freshman helping out my friends with their video projects for class. Back then it was called “Brickenpaw Productions” since it was more of a film-based thing rather than writing or audio. Seeing the various production companies rolling in the credits of movies inspired me in some way to one day have my own production company be featured in the intro of a film. The dream fulfilled itself (kind of) when we presented videos in class on the smart boards.

Anyway, Brickenpaw was something that ended up on the backburner after school as I got busy with life and moved away from any intention on committing projects to the faux company. I always fantasized about producing various projects and making cool stuff, but I never truly invested any time to it. I had been writing since I was a little kid, keeping journals and notes for stories that were never to be fully-fleshed out. I suffered from the excitement of starting the project and never gathering the discipline to finish it.

Going through my old composition books, I found that I had dozens of pages that were marked up, and hundreds that were left blank. This aversion to finishing my ideas was nothing new, procrastination being the cause and something I had struggled with for a very long time. I had no idea how far back it went in my life. Procrastinating on my projects without even knowing what the word “procrastinate” even meant!

In early 2023, I got that creative nudge in the back of my mind once more, to do something with all those ideas I never finished. I tried to think of something I could do, fulfill the dream of that production company from years ago, but this time with what I was blessed with since I was a kid: an urge to write.

I decided to form the LLC that would own the rights to all my work because one day, I am going to die, and this may hopefully live on for my children or some other like-minded person to steward in the years to come. For versatility, and because I thought it sounds cool, i dropped the “production” out of the company named and replaced it with something that sounded more industrial and heavy duty. Thus, Brickenpaw Industries was born…and filed with the State of Washington.

It’s now been a year since it’s incorporation, and I think it’s finally time to begin the journey of producing what I set out to from the very start: cool ideas and complete stories. I’ll let you all be the judge of that, but for now, enjoy these stories.
